Rise Up

This song has been spirit song for a while now. More like the song that I belt out (I am a good singer, but it quickly becomes… not so good, lol) in the car while tears begin to stream down my face. I’m sure you all have a song like that. The car really is a great place to cry, isn’t it? And for me, it’s always music that gets me started. Anyway, the lyrics to the song are…perfect. I’m not always as strong as they are…but I’d like to be.
The line that really gets into my soul…in a good and sad way…
“I’ll rise up….in spite of the ache…”
You’re broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry-go-round
And you can’t find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains
And I’ll rise up
I’ll rise like the day
I’ll rise up
I’ll rise unafraid
I’ll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again
And I’ll rise up
High like the waves
I’ll rise up
In spite of the ache
I’ll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again

When the silence isn’t quiet
And it feels like it’s getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we’ll take the world to its feet
And move mountains

All we need, all we need is hope
And for that we have each other
We will rise

I’ll rise up
Rise like the day
I’ll rise up
In spite of the ache
I will rise a thousand times again
And we’ll rise up
High like the waves
We’ll rise up
In spite of the ache
We’ll rise up
And we’ll do it a thousand times again

  1. Beautiful lyrics. I am often taken aback when I hear a song and begin to cry. I always wonder what sets it off. It has to do with my current mood and the emotional connection I have with the song. I always feel better knowing that I allowed my emotions to be in the driver seat for a change.

  2. So many people have been writing about songs this month. Music has that power over us. There are less than a handful of songs that have that affect on me, but when I do hear them – look out. Ugly crying for sure.
